Macro Photography: The Butterfly

The Butterfly

There’s an entire world of macro photography. I don’t claim to be one of those types of photographers, but I do find it interesting. I didn’t use a “Macro” lens, but my Sigma 70-200 did a pretty decent job. My exposure was 1/1250th f/5.6 ISO 400 @ 200mm. I could have used a smaller aperture to bring in more depth of (DOF) field, maybe something like f/16 or higher. However, I like shallow DOF, and this is what I got. I did make a lot of photos because this little guy was moving around a lot. I missed focus several times, and got focus several times. I managed to grab several photos I liked and focus where I wanted it. I think an official macro lens will be in my kit in the future. I’m thinking about the Tokina 100mm f/2.8. Find something small and make a photo! You never know what you may capture.
