Work: Lunch Break Portrait With Preeti

June 23, 2018 - 1 minute read

It kind of goes like this. Hey Preeti, I have one of my vintage lenses with me today. Are you up for a quick portrait at lunch? She’s like yeah! Then lunch rolls around and we find a location outside of our building, and start making photos. Preeti is a creative as well. She likes to paint, cook with her hubby when it’s date night, go to the local Speakeasy and listen to Jazz. She is also into photography with a keen eye for fashion type portraits. I know I can always ask Preeti to be my test subject when trying some photo ideas. This was shot with my Nikon DSLR and the good old vintage Russian Jupiter-11 lens. It’s all manual, and it was intended for black and white film. It looks great in color. Notice the lighter washed out photos vs the high contrast photo. The difference is lens flare. If I let the sun peek into the lens, this is what we get. Otherwise, it’s more contrasty. These photos remind me of advertisements for watches, hair or sunglasses. What do you think, Preeti? Maybe we should chase down some commercial photography work. Let’s shoot more soon!
